HPMC plays three roles in putty powder: thickening, water retention and construction.

Thickening: The cellulose thickens the putty powder and helps to suspend it and keep the solution uniform.

Water retention: It makes the putty powder dry slower and assists the reaction of calcium ash under the action of water.

Construction: Cellulose has a lubricating effect, which allows the putty powder to have a good construction.

HPMC does not participate in any chemical reaction, but only plays an auxiliary role.

HPMC produced by the solvent method, it is used toluene, isopropyl alcohol as a solvent, if the washing is not very good, there will be some residual smell.

9. How to choose the right HPMC for different applications?

Application of putty powder: lower requirement, viscosity 100,000, is fine, and it is important to have good water retention.

Application of mortar: higher requirements, high viscosity, 150,000 is better.

The application of glue: need instant type products, high viscosity.
